The Energy Transition Team celebrates its fifth anniversary!
The energy transition team has been in existence for over five years now, and we celebrated that milestone! Together with various clients and partners, including municipalities such as Alphen aan den Rijn, Vught and Voorne aan Zee. We visited the HVC waste-to-energy plant in Dordrecht and then saw how the heat is supplied to apartments in Papendrecht. It was great to see the heat transition in practice!
Energy transition team celebrates five years!
The energy transition team has been in existence for over five years now, and we celebrated this milestone! Together with various clients and partners, including municipalities such as Alphen aan den Rijn, Vught and Voorne aan Zee.
We gathered at the &flux office in Rotterdam, where a bus was waiting for us. We boarded with a packed lunch and, after a short sightseeing tour, arrived at our first destination: the HVC waste-to-energy plant in Dordrecht.
Here, we were given a presentation on how the Drechtsteden municipalities are collaborating on the grand design of the regional heating network. It was great to see how the parties involved are working together on this. This was followed by a tour of the plant. We saw with our own eyes how waste is processed and converted into energy. Energy that is used for the heating network of Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, Papendrecht, Sliedrecht, Zwijndrecht, Hardinxveld-Giessendam and Alblasserdam.

“It’s great to see the energy transition in practice up close!”
After this visit, we got back on the bus and headed for the centre of Papendrecht. Here, we were given a tour of the neighbourhood by the Woonkracht10 housing association. We saw how homes are temporarily heated via a TWC (Thermal Heat Centre). The heat network is still under development. As soon as the sustainable heat source is connected, the homes will switch to it. A good example of the heat transition in practice.
We ended the afternoon with drinks at Bar Bocht in Rotterdam. A pleasant conclusion to an inspiring day. Thank you to everyone who was there. Let’s get more shovels in the ground. Together, we can further advance the heat transition.
